It was chilly and partly cloudy when I saw what I thought was a toy floating on this particular lake. It was a colourful one, the type that toddlers play with when having a (supervised) bath before bed.

It was mid-day on a weekday, hence, there was hardly a soul in this part of the family park. The kids were at school, the parents of the kids at work. They are the regulars in the park lake on weekends.

It was a perfect day (or so my husband thought) for a quiet walk in a tranquil environment. The cool autumn breeze, admittedly, helped to clear the fog off my tired body and exhausted brain.

My husband was with me, but of course. It was he who always insisted that I get out of the house for fresh air and walking exercise. That was important to him, smelling the roses in a manner of speaking, something I wasn’t ready to do just yet.
