Do you also shop at charity shops to help save the environment?

There was a time not long ago when some, perhaps even many, people found it uncomfortable to be seen buying from a charity shop.

Well, I do not feel uncomfortable. Did not, ever.

Even when it was not yet deemed the thing to do (to save the environment), buying from charity shops, there I was. Unabashed and curious.

In fact, for me and my husband, visiting charity shops to browse has become part of our itinerary when in out-of-town trips for weekend holidays.

In the beginning, however, my husband was sceptical. He knew I was into branded goods, even foodstuff, and he must have thought, why was I leading him into charity shops?

But he learned soon enough why I liked visiting charity shops. For the pre-loved books and nothing else.

I’m a bookworm, a lover of mostly suspense thrillers and mysteries. Being surrounded by books was like being in paradise for me.

And then I started to pay attention to the other stuff aside from books in the shops. Not clothing, mind, but more on bric-a-bracs that caught my fancy.
