If people can do heroic deeds, so can animals like pigeons. The difference is that people have a choice but animals have none

Pigeons appear to be unpopular with some people. So disliked, even hated, are these birds by this same people that many websites offer advice and products on how to get rid of them, away from the garden. Not a few regard pigeons as pests.

They are not unpopular nor disliked by me.

I do not see them as pests. I see pigeons as lovable, like most other birds visiting my garden for food and water, or the pigeons that flock in parks, or even the few that strut their tail feathers on the high street in my hometown.

So attractive these pigeons — garden variety, rock pigeons, feral pigeons — are to me that I pause my exercise walk when I see pigeons in the park.

I follow these birds and take photos of them while admiring their beautiful feathers.

Some people tend to give me a kind of look, their brows askance, as if questioning my sanity. As if asking themselves, what does this woman see in pigeons which are disfavoured by some people?
